a solo show of paintings by Paris Higgins
Private view: Friday 31st May 7pm – LateExhibition continues: Saturday 1st June, Sunday 2nd, Friday 7th, Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th June, 12 to 5pm dailyThis series of work takes as its central concern the genesis of an aesthetic style and the evolution of this style into a fully developed and interpretable mode of representation. Modelled on the aesthetic of the photographer William Eggleston Higgins' paintings use the still life genre as a platform and a constrained language of mark making to adopt and reconfigure his visual language, thus creating a circulation of mimicry with regard to aesthetics. The paintings exemplify the methods by which we come to interpret and understand a specific aesthetic style, which is governed by its escalating visual context through varying media.
