THE MEZZANINE

THE MEZZANINE

Motorcade/Flash Parade is pleased to present THE MEZZANINE, a contemporary art exhibition that explores concepts of absurdity through intervention, transition and interpretation. Meet us halfway.

Absurdity has many levels and meanings. It can refer to our inabilities of searching for a meaning in life, or it can simply imply foolishness, ridiculousness, senselessness. When standing between levels in an open plan space, you can see everything except what is going on underneath you. Below the mezzanine. What we think is absurd at first glance, often becomes something else once we take a deeper look below the surface…it may even become more absurd.

Four artists come together to reveal their own subtle interpretations of absurdity in an exhibition that combines installation, sound, sculpture and images.

Through intervention, transition and interpretation the artists will explore concepts of absurdity, such as ridiculousness, senselessness, irrationality and incongruity.

The Mezzanine is an intermediate meeting point where both the artists’ and viewers’ interpretation of the absurd meets.

Artists – Diana Smith, Polly Kelsall, Zanne Andrea, Natasha Carter.
